The Capones Islands Marine Research Reserve Zambales, Philippines part of our reef restoration and reef rehabilitation program.
The Capones Islands Marine Research Reserve is a partnership between the Provincial and Local Governments of the province of Zambales, Luzon, Philippines and Ocean Technology Institute (Philippines) Inc. together with Technostrat Corporation and Eco-Coral Corporation of the Philippines.
The Marine Research Reserve will be administered for 25 years by the joint organizations.
The Purpose of the Marine Research Reserve:
- To protect and restore the coral reefs and associated fisheries.
- To conduct research on the establishment of colonized substrates outside the actual reefs.
- To establish the Capones Marine Research Reserve as a premier dive location in the Philippines.
- To bring sustainable and increased economic benefits to the stakeholders in the local area.
- To use the results of the research to restore other damaged areas of Zambales and the rest of the Philippines.
- To attract international researchers to work in the reserve.
- To use volunteer divers, local and overseas, to catalog all the creatures and organisms in the reserve.
