In most countries inshore fisheries are reserved for small fishermen who fish for livelihood. Unfortunately unscrupulous persons will trawl in these areas destroying coral reefs, seagrass beds and decimating fish stocks and creating all manner of damage.
Preventing this illegal and disastrous activity is difficult due to lack of resources and corruption where patrol rangers can be bought off.
ArtificialCoral.org supplies the patented Anti-Trawling Device (designed by Technostrat Corporation) which is installed on the seabed in conjunction with the artificial coral designed reefs for coral restoration and reef rehabilitation.
The ATD is designed to be installed by two divers using regular small fishing boats. It consists of a steel structure coated with epoxy which is anchored to the seabed with weights made from the same material as Eco-Coral© artificial coral. ATD units may be ganged together across trawl paths. The ATD carries two sets of 16 revolving knives, which, when snagged by a trawl net, cut the nets and release the fish thus ensuring that the illegal trawlers do not impede the reef restoration process.
A typical arrangement would be one unit every 10 meters, chained in a line.



The ex-works 'free in container' price of 20 units of Anti-Trawling Device is $US 16,295.00 plus $US 2,000 for 1x20' container, a total cost of $US 18,295.00 ($US 914.00 each unit). This is based on delivery in the ASEAN region, to other destinations freight will be adjusted.
